Proper maintenance to the body is through healthy diet foods which contain the right nutrients for maximum health and performance. These nutrients are vitamins, minerals, amino acids and protein. These healthy diet food groups are essential to the body in maintaining good health. Lets break down these food groups to see how important they are.

Vitamins:

Vitamins are needed in small amounts by the body in order for normal growth and metabolism. In a balance diet vitamins occur naturally in foods and may be added to processed foods to increase their nutritional value. 

They are many vitamins that have been identified, and each of them plays a specific role in the functioning of the body. Lets look at some of them,vitamin A helps the body fight against infection. vitamin C is needed for the healing of wounds and broken bones. Some vitamins are so vital that without them certain conditions and diseases could develop. For instants a deficiency of vitamin D rickets, and a lack of vitamin B12 could result in anemia.

Minerals: 

Minerals are part of the healthy diet food chain. Minerals are a group of inorganic elements that are essential to the body for normal body function. Minerals area unit those components that the body's demand is a minimum of 100mg per day. dietary minerals are derived from the earth's crust in -which plants extract the minerals from the soil and human intern eat them. The seven major minerals are:

Calcium:

Calcium studies have shown that calcium occurs mainly in the teeth and bones, but a small amount is found in the blood plasma and in other body fluids.

Magnesium: 

Magnesium also present in every cell, is necessary for carbohydrate and protein metabolism, cell reproduction and smooth muscle action.

Phosphorus: 

Phosphorus is another healthy diet food. Phosphorus which is found in dairy products, are partners with calcium when it comes to tooth and bone formation.

Sodium:

Sodium is necessary for fluid and acid base balance, cell permeability, and muscle function. Sodium occurs in table salt (sodium chloride), and such foods as milk and spinach.

Potassium: 

Potassium which is found in ultra-and extra cellular fluid, plays a major role in fluid and electrolyte and in heart muscle activity, and is also require for carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis. Its sources include legumes, whole grains, and bananas.

Chlorine:

Chlorine which is found in extra cellular fluid, helps maintain normal fluid - electrolyte and acid-base balance, and in the stomach , where it helps provide the acidic environment necessary for digestion. The salt is its main dietary source.

Sulfur: 

Sulfur is important to the structure of proteins, and is also necessary for energy metabolism, enzyme function, and detoxification. Sulfur is obtain from protein foods, such as meats, eggs, and legumes.

Protein: 

Protein which is also a good healthy diet food, is a nitrogen containing compound found in plant and animal foods. The body uses protein as fuel source and to form or repair tissues organs, and muscles. Protein comprises enzymes and hormones and is found in every cell in the body.
