Although there is still no clear explanation as to what is the exact cause of allergy, theories suggest that allergy are because of genetics. Risk Factors:

People who are prone to developing allergy are those who have family members with asthma and other types of allergy. Children are those who are commonly affected with allergy because they have weaker immune systems. According to studies, people who have asthma are highly at risk of developing other kinds of allergy.

One of the best ways to avoid allergy is by avoiding the allergen that causes the allergic reactions. This is the best way to avoid problems that may lead to severe allergy such as anaphylaxis

If your immune system is highly sensitive to a certain allergen, your doctor may prescribe epinephrine which usually comes in the form of an “Epipen” which is injected to a person when allergy attacks happen. Getting epinephrine shots will let the symptoms of the allergy lessen until emergency treatment is given. We should remember that just because a person is already given a shot of epinephrine, there is still the need to bring that person to the hospital because the shot does not cure the allergic reaction it only lessens it plus there is a possibility that the symptoms of the allergy attack will recur. There are people who have severe allergy that immunotherapy is required and during which, a person will be receiving shots of small amounts of the allergen in order to let the body develop immunity to the cause of his or her allergy.
